Launch of the first Luxembourg crypto stamp - POSTGroup
A unique collaboration between the postal companies of Luxembourg, Austria and the Netherlands.
This Tuesday, October 10, 2023, POST Luxembourg is issuing its first ever crypto stamp, a new generation of stamps connected to blockchain technology. This special stamp is the result of a unique collaboration between POST Luxembourg, PostNL and Österreichische Post.
The new crypto stamp is being launched simultaneously in Luxembourg, Austria and the Netherlands, with the lion as the common motif, which varies slightly in each country.
The crypto stamp is made up of two parts: a conventional physical stamp with a face value of €9 and its associated digital twin. The latter is an image that can be collected, exchanged and traded on the blockchain.
This issue is limited to 75,000 copies, and while the physical stamp has a uniform design, its digital twin exists in five different colors, some rarer than others.
With this collaboration, POST Luxembourg joins Österreichische Post and PostNL, who had already issued a first joint crypto stamp in September 2022. Indeed, the Austrian postal company is at the forefront of crypto stamps. As the first postal company, it issued crypto stamps in 2019.
The new crypto stamp is available from October 10, 2023, in the POST Philately online store - www.postphilately.lu, at the Guichet philatélique (13, rue Robert Stumper, Cloche d'Or), as well as in all Espace POST and post offices.
A "first day" cachet is available on the date of issue, October 10, 2023, at the Guichet philatélique at the Cloche d'Or.
