Issue of a special series of 8 "Covid-19" stamps.

02 July 2020

Following a drawing competition for children aged 8 to 12 on the theme "Draw us a moment lived during confinement", POST Luxembourg is honoring the contributions of the 8 winners with a special series of "Covid-19" stamps. Part of the proceeds will be donated to the FNR - Fonds National de la Recherche.

The health crisis has brought its share of changes, especially for children: parents teleworking, no school or distance learning, no visits to grandparents, no fun and games with friends...lockdown has often turned into boredom.

"Many activities, which are part of children's daily lives, were no longer possible during the period of lockdown due to Covid-19," explains Emile Espen, head of POST Philately. "There were certainly unusual situations and experiences that they would later talk about with their own children."

To capture such moments and impressions, POST Philately has organized a drawing competition for children aged 8 to 12. From May 15 to 31, 2020, aspiring young artists were able to submit their drawings via Facebook or email. A panel of judges then selected 13 winners from among the many entries, rewarding them with cash prizes or vouchers from Ernster bookshop.

The winning designs of the first eight places were honored on stamps, issued in the form of a sheet of 8 "meng.post" stamps, the customizable stamp from POST Philately. As of this week, this special sheet can be ordered in the new POST Philately online store - www.postphilately.lu, at the philatelic counter (13, rue Robert Stümper, Cloche d'Or) or via order cards, which can be found in all major post offices*.

Part of the proceeds will be donated to a project of the FNR - Fonds National de la Recherche, pre-selected by the Fondation de Luxembourg in the fight against Covid-19.
